Going Private

Younger people are more likely to have used private healthcare

Given that people tend to use healthcare more as they get older, it is not surprising to see that people aged 65+ are more likely than younger adults of 25+ to have used private healthcare.

However, it is somewhat surprising to find that those aged 18-24 actually have the most personal experience of using private healthcare services.

There are many reasons why this might be the case, including a greater propensity among younger people to access digital services that complement traditional healthcare provision. We talk more about the types of services people are accessing below.

It might also be the case that young people in this age group may be covered through parental medical insurance policies that often cover dependent children in full-time education. It will be fascinating to track this position over time as it may be that this is the beginning of trends which will see increasing use of private healthcare over time.
