IHPN responds to AOP sight loss concerns

The IHPN has responded to data released by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) which shows the extent and impact of delays in NHS treatment for patients needing eye care or treatment.
Independent healthcare providers have long played a key role in the delivering high quality NHS services, free at the point of use. As the health service moves towards recovery post-covid, the independent sector will continue to support the NHS and ensure patients can access the care they need.

As part of our work on the elective recovery taskforce, IHPN was commissioned to produce an evaluation on the current delivery of apprenticeships within the independent sector. This report reflects existing provision, future scope for expansion, and barriers to delivery facing independent providers.

The Government’s Elective Recovery Taskforce was established in December 2022 to explore ways to maximise the contribution and capacity of the independent sector to tackle NHS waiting lists, and to highlight practical ways that the independent sector can be more powerfully utilised. IHPN was pleased to be a member of the taskforce, representing the voice of independent healthcare providers.
