IHPN responds to PHIN data on serious injuries

Responding to the publication of new data from the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) on serious injuries, David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN), said:

“Improving transparency and information in healthcare is a key way of supporting patients to make informed choices about their care. Today’s publication is an important milestone in making more data available about the quality and safety of care in the independent sector and we strongly encourage privately-funding patients to utilise the important data which PHIN produces.

“Patients should be reassured that independent sector providers deliver overwhelmingly safe and effective care with over 84% of independent acute providers rated good or outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, and serious injuries resulting from just 0.003% of patient activity”
