With the NHS a key market for the majority of IHPN members, we asked a serious of questions about their role in the NHS and relationship with key NHS bodies – nationally and locally.
With regards Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), an increased amount of members feel that they are part of the local system, from 51% last year to 65% this year. Last year, almost half felt that they weren’t part, and that has reduced to just over a third.
Over half of respondents felt that their relationships with NHS organisations in their local area had worsened, a 10x increase. Last year, the majority felt that their relationships were a mixed bag, at 59%, and a third felt they had improved, but both of those responses have dropped this year.
“There’s frustrations more between some of the conversations that we’ve been having at a national level and things that we seem to be told, and then that actually not coming to fruition locally.”
Perhaps unsurpisingly given the financial pressures facing the NHS, respondents clearly feel that pressure to achieve savings is the major driver of NHS commissioner behaviour, with only 9% stating that tackling NHS backlogs was seen as the priority.
