I qualified as Registered General Nurse (RGN) still active on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. I hold a BA(Hons) in Healthcare Management and a post graduate certificate in Human factors for patient safety and have worked in NHS acute trusts, for independent sector providers and for both the Healthcare Commission and the Care Quality Commission.

Over the years at times I’ve had to make what has felt like some difficult career choices due to a number of challenges in my personal life. Having access to a mentor I’m sure wouldn’t have changed my decisions (which were the right ones for me) but might have made the journey slightly less isolated. By being a mentor I hope to help others feel they have someone else walking alongside. I’d also be particularly keen to share my experiences of moving from “the frontline” to healthcare leadership.
