Communications Manager

Salary: £42,000–£45,000
Contract: Permanent
Location: Victoria, Central London
Start date: Mid–end July

The Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) is the membership organisation representing over 120 independent healthcare providers across the UK. Our members deliver a wide range of NHS and private services — from acute and primary care to community, diagnostic and neurodevelopmental services.

We are the leading voice for the independent healthcare sector, bringing providers together, supporting them to deliver high‑quality patient care, and ensuring their contribution to UK healthcare is recognised. Our work spans public affairs, sector policy, patient safety, operational improvement and much more — and we are well regarded for our impact and influence.

We are a friendly, high-performing team of 15 people based in Victoria, central London, working in a hybrid model.

We’re looking for a talented Communications Manager to join our busy and dynamic communications and public affairs team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to deepen their communications expertise in a high-profile national organisation working at the heart of UK health policy.

You’ll work across the full communications mix — media, digital, social, member engagement, events, publishing, branding and public affairs. One day you might be preparing media lines or coordinating a national broadcast interview; the next, developing a campaign, planning social content, drafting a briefing for Parliament, or supporting the launch of a major report.

You’ll also play a key role in strengthening our member communications, improving our channels and content to support engagement, awareness and community across our network.

This is a varied, fast-paced and hands-on role where you’ll have real ownership and the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver multi‑channel communications campaigns, particularly across digital platforms.
  • Support public affairs activity, including political monitoring, MP/Peer engagement, briefing development and parliamentary events.
  • Work with colleagues across IHPN to create communications plans for projects and programmes.
  • Write and commission content for member briefings, newsletters and corporate communications.
  • Create and distribute regular member email newsletters (Mailchimp/HubSpot).
  • Maintain website content using WordPress.
  • Provide guidance on style, branding and tone of voice.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications activity, producing monthly reporting and insights.
  • Spot emerging opportunities for new content and outputs using data, analytics and audience insight.

We’re looking for someone with experience in a busy communications environment and a genuine passion for making communications practical, impactful and timely. We don’t expect you to tick every box, but you’ll bring many of the following:

  • Strong copywriting skills and the ability to produce engaging content across multiple formats.
  • Experience planning and delivering communications projects to deadline.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence working with colleagues across different teams and disciplines.
  • Ability to act on initiative, manage competing priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Experience with digital communications, social media (especially LinkedIn), Canva, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).
  • Working knowledge of CMS platforms — WordPress experience is a bonus.
  • An interest in politics, public policy or healthcare would be advantageous.

Most importantly, you will share and demonstrate IHPN’s values in your day‑to‑day work:

  • We put members first
  • We are responsive and proactive
  • We act with integrity
  • We are ambitious to improve
  • We care about each other

If you’re proactive, curious, politically aware and excited by the idea of working on issues that matter to patients and UK healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your interest in the role and relevant experience to [email protected]. Please note that applications received without a cover letter will not be shortlisted.
