Younger people are more likely to have used private healthcare

In 2023, there was a clear differentiation in usage of private healthcare between different age groups – but, interestingly, this has shifted slightly in our 2024 data.

The 35-44 age group bracket has – just – the highest usage of private healthcare, though interestingly there is a drop off between 44 and 65, while younger age groups have a more consistently highly rate.

There are many reasons why this might be the case, including a greater propensity among younger people to access digital services that complement traditional healthcare provision. We talk more about the types of services people are accessing next.
