IHPN welcomes establishment of new independent Patient Safety Commissioner

Responding to the Government’s announcement on their plans to establish an independent Patient Safety Commissioner, Dawn Hodgkins, Director of Regulation at the Independent Healthcare Providers Network, said:

“We welcome the Government’s decision to establish a new Patient Safety Commissioner whose remit will include both NHS and privately delivered healthcare, following Baroness Cumberlege’s recommendation in her review earlier this year.  Patient safety is the number one priority for all independent sector providers and we look forward to working with the Patient Safety Commissioner to ensure a joined up approach to safety issues across the whole healthcare system so that all patients can access the safest possible care, regardless of where they are treated.”
