IHPN responds to Health Select Committee report into delivering core NHS services during the pandemic

Responding to today’s Health and Social Care Committee report into “Delivering core NHS and Care services during the pandemic and beyond”, David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network, said:

“We welcome today’s Commons Health and Social Care Select Committee’s report which highlights the significant contribution that independent healthcare providers have made in ensuring vital NHS treatment, notably cancer care, could continue during the start of the pandemic.

“The Committee also rightly emphasises the importance of setting out clear steps to tackle the growing backlog of cancelled and delayed treatment, including through continued use of independent capacity. Independent providers remain committed to working hand in hand with the NHS over winter and beyond to give as many NHS patients care whilst also treating growing numbers of private patients across the country.”
