IHPN responds to Government response to IMMDS review

Responding to the Government’s response to the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Review, Dawn Hodgkins, Director of Regulation at the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN), said:

“Today’s Government response to the “Independent Medicine and Medical Devices Safety Review” sets out a number of key steps to better ensure any patient concerns around medicines and medical devices can be identified and acted upon as quickly and effectively as possible, including through the appointment of a new Patient Safety Commissioner as well as the development of the first ever Women’s Strategy for Health.

“With the rapid growth in implantable medical devices both in the UK and internationally, it’s vital that there is a more joined up approach to recording and regulating the use of these devices across the whole healthcare system to keep patients safe.

“The independent health sector is committed to playing our part in this important agenda and will be working with our partners across the healthcare system to take forward these measures and ensure all patients can access the safest possible care.”
