IHPN responds to the Chancellor's Budget

Responding to the Chancellor’s Budget, David Hare, Chief Executive of Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) said:
“The NHS has faced years of severe capital funding constraints, and indications in the budget of a further 1% cut in capital budgets will only make it harder to modernise services, improve productivity and deliver the care patients need.
“With public finances under such significant pressure, the NHS cannot afford to overlook the investment and expertise available from the independent sector. Private capital has a vital role to play in developing the modern healthcare services patients need, from expanding community services and bringing care closer to home, to investing in innovative cancer facilities that can help save lives.
“Independent healthcare providers have a strong track record of investing in high-quality services for NHS patients across the country. The Government must now remove barriers to greater NHS and independent sector collaboration, unlocking much-needed investment, expanding capacity and ensuring more patients can access the care they need, when they need it.”
