IHPN responds to calls to address the significant increase in spending on ADHD services

Responding to calls to address the significant increase in spending on ADHD services, an IHPN spokesperson said:

“We recognise the challenges patients currently face – and the pressures upon NHS ADHD and autism services. To meet growing demand, independent providers have brought significant capacity and innovation, with the sector now delivering half of all NHS ADHD assessments and one in three NHS Autism assessments. Importantly, 83% of IHPN members delivering neurodevelopmental care are rated Good or Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.”

“IHPN support calls for a more coordinated national approach. This includes work to develop national tariff pricing and we believe this must be aligned to clear standards and specifications that all providers should meet. Our own recent Building Better Neurodevelopmental Services report called for a national framework for neurodevelopmental services, including clear waiting times targets for patients so they can get the timely, high quality care they need and so their right to choose is supported.”
