For Patients
With increasing numbers of people considering using private healthcare, IHPN have developed a range of resources to help patients understand all their options around paying privately for their care
Please note as a membership network, IHPN do not have the authority to investigate individual complaints or mandate specific actions for its members.
In the first instance, if you are able to, we would suggest that it can be helpful to speak to the organisation who provided your care. Information on what you can expect from independent healthcare providers and what to do if you have a complaint is included in this video, please click here.
Other organisations such as The Patients Association and Healthwatch can provide support when making a complaint. The Public and Health Service Ombudsman investigate NHS funded care complaints and the Independent Sector Complaints Adjudication Service both investigate complaints that are not resolved at local level. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator for health and social care in England and also receive feedback from patients and their families that helps them regulate services. If you are in Wales, you can contact Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, in Scotland – Healthcare Improvement Scotland and in Northern Ireland RQIA
