Responding to the publication of PHIN’s data maturity report of private healthcare providers, David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network, said:

“It is vital that patients are able to make informed choices about the care they receive and PHIN’s work is an important part of generating greater transparency for services provided by independent hospitals and NHS private patient units (PPUs) throughout the UK to privately-funded patients.

“Independent providers have a strong record on delivering safe and high quality care – almost 80% of independent hospitals are rated good or outstanding by the Care Quality Commission – and already submit a significant amount of patient safety data to regulators including the CQC and NHS Improvement. Our members are working hard to ensure accurate submission of the data required by PHIN with significant progress made in the last year, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with PHIN to ensure all providers are able to comply with their obligations in this area.”
