Responding to the Government’s announcement of £3.5 billion a year funding for primary and community healthcare by 2023/4, David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network said:

“We welcome the Prime Minister’s commitment today to invest an additional £3.5bn a year in primary and community care. This is will help bolster a sector which too often does not get the attention it deserves, and most importantly will help ensure that patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right setting.

“Independent sector providers, including those in the voluntary and social enterprise sector, play a key role in delivering high quality, innovative and patient-centred care in the community with around 40% of NHS community provision coming from independent providers. It is therefore vital that this welcome additional resource is used to invest in the best and most innovative models of care, regardless of who provides them.”
