  • Choice in maternity services
  • Overseas charging
  • Five Year Forward View
  • eRS Demand Spread programme
  • Urgent treatment Centres

Member forums and sector groups

Our member forums and sector-groups meet approximately four times a year to talk about member priorities and issues they wish to address. The IHPN team works closely with the chairs of the various groups to ensure we secure relevant and high-level speakers for these meetings, giving members the opportunity to hear from them and discuss relevant topical issues.

Clinical forum

The clinical forum focuses on elements of clinical care and regulation relating to NHS patients. It also provides the primary interface for the sector with the Care Quality Commission.

Chair: Dr Howard Freeman, Clinical Director, Independent Healthcare Providers Network

Finance Forum

IHPN’s finance forum considers financial policy developments and financial issues that are relevant to our members including funding new care models and the development of the National Tariff. The Finance Forum liaises regularly with NHS Improvement’s pricing and costing team as well as senior figures from NHS England and the Department of Health.

Chair: John Shepherd, Ramsay Healthcare UK

HRD forum

IHPN’s HRD Forum gives HR leads a platform to come together and discuss common issues including workforce planning. The forum is also the main interface for the sector with Health Education England, and is supported by Bevan Brittan.

Joint Chairs: Sharon Bridgland Gough, Nuffield Health and Paul Stanton, Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth

Communications group

The communications group provides a unique forum for communications and marketing leads from IHPN’s member organisations. This forum gives members an opportunity to help shape cross-sector communications and marketing strategies and meet colleagues from other member organisations to share views and ideas.

Chair: Megan Cleaver, Independent Healthcare Providers Network

Digital Leaders group

The Digital Leader’s Group provides an environment to raise strategic IT and information management issues and requirements for the attention of NHS Digital, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and other national organisations.

Chair: Trevor Purt, IBM Watson

Hospitals sector-group

The IHPN hospitals sector-group has been developed to enable all the Network’s hospital members to come together and discuss key issues affecting the market across NHS and privately-funded services. The group will meet under the principles set out for all of the Networks sub-groups, in particular the principle that the Network Board sets and agrees all the main priorities for the organisation. The hospitals sector-group will however be free to debate and take action in areas that affect that part of the market.

It should be noted that this group is likely to be relevant for all providers of elective care and not just hospital operators.

Primary and community care sector-group

The IHPN primary and community care sector-group has been developed to enable all the Network’s primary and community care members to come together and discuss key issues affecting the market. The group will meet under the principles set out for all of the Networks sector-groups, in particular the principle that the Network Board sets and agrees all the main priorities for the organisation. The primary and community care sector-group will however be free to debate and take action in areas that affect that part of the market.

Pathway partners sector-group

The IHPN pathway partners sector-group has been developed to enable all the Network’s pathway partner members to come together and discuss key issues affecting the market. The group will meet under the principles set out for all of the Networks sub-groups, in particular the principle that the Network Board sets and agrees all the main priorities for the organisation. The group will however be free to debate and take action in areas that affect that part of the market.
